Stage of Innovation: Proof of Concept (You have created something to show the innovation can work)
Problem: In Nigeria, sustainable fashion as a concept has not gained wide use and understanding. In this context, sustainable fashion is seen in the light of engaging in production and consumption of clothing that with less hazard to the environment and the community. This project focuses on children clothing as a value chain. Children grow rapidly, which means the demand for their kind of clothing will continue to increase. As a result, parents are always on the lookout for cheap but quality outfits for their little ones. Studies seem to concede that the men's and women's fashion market is saturated, and a gaping hole exists in affordable kids' fashion, leaving it as the only exciting space to be in. Revenue in the Children's Apparel segment amounts to €2,843.00m in 2023. The market is expected to grow annually by 6.96% (CAGR 2023-2027). The increase in the number of working women, increase in the number of single-parent households, and the increase in the disposable incomes of parents will drive the demand for baby clothes. It is against this backdrop that my initiative seeks to solve the problem of unemployment and poverty by employing capable hands who will meet the raising demands of kids clothing. This impact will also stimulate economic growth by reducing dependence on white-collar jobs.
Unique Selling Point: Most fashion houses in Nigeria focus strictly on Men's and Women's clothing while children clothing seems only as an added attachment to their business. My solution will focus strictly on children's clothing for both male and female kids, which will be branded with the customized name of my business. I am proficient in making women's clothing but I intend to crave my niche with specialization in children's clothing (age 0 - 16), which is what I am passionate about. This solution doesn't end at just making children's clothing but will be expanded as a training ground to build the capacity of people who are interested in specializing in the area of children clothing/apparel. This solution also intends to engage in sales of children's accessories where expectant mothers and others can drop by and shop for their kids.
