Stage of Innovation: Idea (You have thought it through and documented it)

Problem: My innovation is to solve accessibility and affordability of data and technology driven soil testing for smallholder farmers to help them develop good soil and crop specific soil and plant nutrition plan with use of high throughput mobile soil nutrients detectors device. My innovation will help remove guess work on the use of right type and quantity of fertilizer to be used per time which will in turn optimize the cost of fertilizer that will translate into increase in crop yield per hectare and save the environment (soil) from over-fertilization per time.

Unique Selling Point: Currently, most smallholder farmers does not test their soil before crop cultivation and other medium and large scale farmers that do soil testing before crop cultivation take their soil sample to the lab which most times takes about more 1 week before they get the results of their soil tests. My solution is to reduce that time taken to run the soil tests on the spot with the use of the mobile soil nutrient detector and deliver the analysed results in 48 hours with full interpretation backed with agronomic advisory on the crop and soil specific fertilizer plan in terms of types and amount.
