Problem: To provide an affordable wear testing machine suitable for research and development use in the industry and to evaluate the resistance of the materials to friction and wear for engineering applications.

Unique Selling Point: Materials behave differently in a friction state and a wear test is used to simulate the condition the material will experience in actual use. The loads and forces acting on material while in service are compressive and its ability to withstand such loads and forces without failure is a measure of its reliability. The wear test of manufactured materials is the first step to efficient quality control and good manufacturing technique. The establishment of quality control facilities by manufacturers for continuous assessment of product quality is a necessary requirement for ensuring compliance with the relevant standard and maintaining the product quality that will continue to meet the needs of the uninformed users. Thus, the need for simple and affordable wear machines suitable for teaching, research, and quality control measurement in the industry of manufactured materials. At present standard wear test machine is being imported and the indigenous ones used samples that are manually held during tests while adapting the grinding and polishing metallographic machine.
