Problem: In Nigeria over 30 million smallholder farmers in rural areas rely on rain for agriculture to feed their families and escape from poverty, but their source of livelihood is currently being threatened by the effects of climate change as the rain have become unpredictable and erratic causing water scarcity, droughts and crop failures resulting into serious hunger and food insecurity. Diesel/petrol water pumps is currently being used by thousands of farmers for irrigation to combat water scarcity and grow crop all year but this is a huge problem because diesel/petrol pumps are expensive to purchase and operate as farmers spend up to $45 a month to operate diesel/petrol pump, it also emits tons of carbon into the atmosphere (15-29% of greenhouse gases as estimated by world bank). In addition to this problem, most smallholder farmers live in rural areas where there is poor electricity supply, as such, they rely on kerosene lamps for light in their homes which emits carbon that pollutes the air and can results to health hazards, fire outbreak and deaths.

Unique Selling Point: Current solutions to irrigation are diesel/petrol water pumps and future pump solar water pump that uses only solar panels without battery, its very expensive because it is imported and poor farmers must pay fully upfront. Nimsy solar pumps builds and provide smallholder farmers with low-cost mobile solar water pumps for irrigation to enable them farm all year round so as to improve their livelihood and food production in Nigeria and Africa. We manufacture our solar pump using low-cost very reliable equipment such as bilge pump, solar panel, deep cycle battery, charge controller etc. Our solar pumps come with a two-way power system; Solar and DC battery. Farmer irrigate for up to 3 hours with battery in case there isn't enough sunlight or switch to solar and continue irrigating as long as there is sunlight. Solar panel also charges the battery. With DC battery in place, our solar pump comes with 3 units of bright DC led bulbs to lighten homes helping farmers to eliminate kerosene lamps that pollutes the air and cause health hazards. Our solar pump is affordable as farmers can own it through a rent-to-own model with 12 months payments in installments, its mobile, zero carbon emission, no need for fuel and help farmers save money (up to $52 per month in fuel/diesel cost and kerosene) which help them earn more money and improve their lives. We also supply farmers with drip irrigation kits for water use efficiency and to improve farmers harvest yields. We supply half to one acre of farm land on a rent-to-own payment model. Drip irrigation system reduces water consumption by 50%. With drip irrigation, water applications are more frequent which provides a more favorable moisture level for the plants to thrive and improve harvest yields.
