Problem: About 1.6 million persons die in Nigeria every year due to medical emergencies. 823 women die every day due to obstetrics emergencies” According to the World Health Organization (WHO). There is a rise in the mortality rate in Nigeria due to the inaccessibility of individuals with medical emergencies to standard and effective healthcare delivery systems. One critical challenging factor involved is the inability to locate and transport patients to the nearest registered and verified healthcare facility, as well as limited knowledge or unawareness of the public on how to administer necessary first aid. The WHO estimated that about 74% of healthcare service users in a typical Nigerian facility wait between 60 and 120 minutes to complete hospital registrations, with a similar additional wait time before seeing the service provider. We intend to solve this problem with MEDWAKA (Medical Emergency Management System) MEDWAKA is a medical and emergency management system that enables the reporting of medical emergencies across Nigeria with an immediate dispatch of medical professionals and ambulance services to the site of the emergency, giving the populace a layman platform for reporting medical emergencies 24/7 with a real-time response and transportation to the nearest hospital. This software, further integrates telemedicine, creating unlimited access to a wide range of medical expert services remotely, by prioritizing patient care experiences. As an emergency management system, MEDWAKA further ensures all its users and clients are trained on the basics of first-aid administration.
