Stage of Innovation: Prototype (You have a working physical product)

Problem: Orange Flesh Sweetpotatoes (OFSP) is a biotified variety of sweetpotato that gain penetrance to Nigeria about seven (7) years ago. This crop has gained relevance in few parts of the country but none in so many part. OFSP has been known for its beta carotenoid content which aid glucose regulation and digestion likewise. It is sometimes mentioned to be safe for diabetic patients. JOS metropolis has little or no idea about its penetrance. We hope to ensure that there is availability, awareness and adoption of Orange Flesh Sweetpotatoes which can be achieved through production and value chain drive.

Unique Selling Point: We have engaged in production during the last growing season and we had a bumper harvest. We are unique because we are introducing a new variety of sweetpotato into Jos metropolis and a training opportunity for smallhoder farmer on the implications of adding OFSP to there cultivation plan. It will also add up to the food security status on the Plateaus. We also believe it will add up as a the dietary supplement to residents of Plateau state and borders.
