Problem: The Digital presence of African Languages is thin and lacking. The Internet is gradually playing more critical roles in our everyday lives. The Language gap is obvious when we use online translators and other African-language-based models online in media and education. Learning: A fun and easy medium to teach native languages from an early age. Localization: Businesses are global but global is a group of locals. Globalisation can not be achieved without proper localization. Globalization: The internet has placed the world in the palm of every individual with access. With Lulu working in partnership with some of these internet services, it becomes possible to accurately translate to the individual’s native language.
Unique Selling Point: Google Translate is one project that is collecting African Language data similar to what the Lulu Game is built for but the current approach to its data collection will cost loss of some data, contextual nuance, and time, before it could cover only a fraction of what needs to be collected. The Project is old. Google Translate is available in only very few African languages and the translation system can not be applied to hold a conversation without failing and missing contexts. Duolingo is a popular language learning app and it hardly features any African language. It is currently available for Arabic only. Lulu is solving the context gap in existing online African language-based models; in education and media through a friendly, gamified and community-designed space that also attracts other perks like in-game tokens to be earned and its utilities. Lulu uses a “learn-by-teaching” wiki technology to organically crowdsource data to flatten the learning curve and build a robust and easily scalable African languages Database. Lulu is a game, it's fun.
