Stage of Innovation: Proof of Concept (You have created something to show the innovation can work)

Problem: We started experiencing flood in my community since when I was 7 years old; we use to vacate the vicinity for a month or 2 during this period and take most of our valuable belonging along. When I got to 15 years old, I started making a research on the course of the problem and I found out that this is due to reckless disposal of waste which has led to blockage of sewers and drainage networks in various communities which later contribute negatively impact ocean health. Plastic waste and are none bio-degradable which means the country will be over flooded with plastics waste eventually if nothing is being done. Single-use of plastic is one of the greatest threats to the environment. This problem is affecting life on land and below water.

Unique Selling Point: Most of the recycling company we have in Nigeria only process plastic waste and sell to other plastic manufacturers, we only have very few company in Nigeria that recycle plastic waste into eco-friendly products especially to building products. Our solution is to transform every kind of plastic waste (pet bottles, hdpe, ldpe, pp, Styrofoam) into affordable building materials that can be used as alternative building materials which is 5X stronger than the cement products, by using a sand polymer technology. Generating revenue, creating employment to large number of community women, contributing to economy growth and sanitizing the environment. We are also working on using mobile technology to facilitate the recovery of plastic waste in various community through an incentivizing model which also track every scavengers, collections centers on cluster map.
