Innovations Item Code: IN-2024-2100254
Sector: Health/Telemedicine
Description:
Metaverse Medical Simulations, a platform that leverages virtual reality and artificial intelligence for healthcare providers and health students to virtually practice medical procedures, treatments procedure, study human anatomy and learn how to use medical equipments on 3D-created virtual models
Stage of Innovation: MVP (You have a product ready to go to the market)
Problem:
The gap between quality health care and Africa’s health care needs is caused by inadequate training and training facilities. Medical students and health care providers lack adequate and on-demand access to training and re-trainings to learn new procedures and prevent skill decay of already learnt procedures. The problem include:
• Inadequate training and training facilities for health students
• Lack of on-demand access to trainings and retraining to learn new procedure and prevent skill decay for health professionals
• Poor condition of clinical and practical sections in health colleges
• No risk free rehearsal method before attending to patients
Unique Selling Point: 1. use of cadavers(dead bodies) to learn human anatomy (Differentiating factor: you cannot re-use a cadaver, while using the metaverse medical simulation technology, you can repeat the session as many times as you like till you master without wasting any resources, as everything used for the session is digitally created) 2. learning theoretically only while waiting for an opportunity to practice in the future (Differentiating factor: with the metaverse medical simulation technology, students, interns and residents can simulate procedures not readily available in their teaching hospital, or learn use of medical equipment not available in their teaching hospital) 3. learning procedures on the job while working with senior professionals (Differentiating factor: with the the metaverse medical simulation technology, students, interns and residents can simulate procedures on their own, learn from their mistake and master these procedures before working with senior professionals on live patient) 4. depending only on live sessions with patients to rehearse procedures to prevent skill decay (Differentiating factor: the metaverse medical simulation technology removes the risk associated with learning while working on live patients)
