Problem:

  1. The prevalent use of disposable pads presents a pressing issue, intertwining hygiene, period poverty, and environmental impact. Each woman using disposable pads annually leaves a carbon footprint of 5.8 kg carbon dioxide equivalent, contributing significantly to climate change and highlighting the urgency to adopt sustainable alternatives. This environmental strain is exacerbated by hygiene concerns associated with synthetic materials, leading to discomfort and potential health risks. Furthermore, the economic burden of disposable pads perpetuates period poverty, particularly in regions like Nigeria, where a significant population struggles with extreme poverty. Addressing these interconnected challenges is crucial for advancing Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13) on Climate Action. SussFlow's reusable sanitary pads emerge as a solution, offering a sustainable, affordable, and eco-friendly alternative to mitigate both environmental and social concerns.
