Hemolife is an innovative AI-driven, user-centric, and privacy-aware blood donation app grounded in insights from health informatics research. This AI-driven approach simplifies and incentivizes the entire blood donation process, ensuring accessibility during emergencies and reducing financial barriers for donors below the poverty line. With Hemolife, machine learning debiased algorithms will optimize donor-recipient matching, guaranteeing efficient and real-time connections.

This approach will bring donors into a single network, validating and storing their necessary health information for blood donation. We hope that our model not only provides a technological blueprint for addressing health challenges in resource-constrained regions but also highlights the pivotal role of AI in revolutionizing healthcare accessibility and efficiency in blood scarcity scenarios.

In summary, Hemolife is a pioneering peer-to-peer blood donation platform designed to streamline the blood donation process in Nigeria and beyond. It leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to connect voluntary blood donors with recipients and facilitate safe and transparent blood donation management.

In the current blood donation setup, there needs to be a peer-to-peer system providing a direct connection between donors and receivers, which constitutes a significant limitation of the current system. The drawbacks of the existing systems include time inefficiency, higher demand for workforce, and increased costs.

We propose an improvement, a novel concept that seeks to enhance the current system by transitioning from paper to "pocket health," utilizing human-AI interaction and building on existing works. We aim to eliminate barriers to making blood readily available during emergencies, even if they are rare blood groups. These barriers in summary include a lack of reminders, adequate education, incentivization, and an aftercare system.
