Fundwell allows funding organizations deliver resources such as funds or materials directly to recipients through partner organizations but with greater accountability using a smart phone enabled app. Final recipients are no longer invisible or anonymous. They can be validated using biometrics (fingerprints) through the phone app.

The idea is best illustrated using one out of several possible and diverse use cases.

Funder: wants to provide food to refugee camps

Food vendor: appointed to provide food at refugee camps

Fundwell: provides finger print enabled app (commission based)

Final recipient: onboarded and given cash allocation for food example N500.00 per meal.

Execution: recipient chooses among several vendors and pays with thumbprint on Fundwell app with vendor. vendor receives cash instantly. recipient has choice, therefore vendors deliver good quality food to attract recipients. each transaction is documented with Funder. Administrative costs are less because funder can track consumption and quality is achieved through competition reducing the administrative costs of quality management to ensure recipients get quality food.

Other use cases are available such as distribution of mosquito nets or fertilizers

Currently, it is not unusual for funding partners to divert funds to other uses or to provide ghost recipients for services paid for by funders while only providing services to a very small number for which fund were allocated. Using Fundwell, recipients “pay” for the product or service at the time they receive it using their thumbprint leading to more accountability. The payment does not necessarily always have to be cash. It may be a pre-approval for a service using vouchers. However, only a recipient can activate the use of the product or service.
