SOLAR POWERED SMART RECIRCULATORY AQUACULTURE SYSTEM (SP-SRAS)

Research Works Item Code: b2660a44a6

Innovation: The Recirculatory Aquaculture Systems that exist before now are seriously challenged by lack of uninterrupted power source as the system requires 24 light. A lot of farmers has backed out of using the system. Our innovation is making use of solar and inverter with low rating but effective solar pump. we made the system of plastic, compact and mobile such that farmers can easily maintain them, migrate with them if there is need to relocate and can easily deploy them close to where they live thereby avoiding poaching and heavy cost of acquiring land and construction of tanks (heavy cost). the biosensor monitors water quality parameters and can be reported real time for effective correction so that the fish are in best condition and can grow maximally for effective yield to farmers. there is educative aspect on the App as well and a section for feedback. The App also will be use as a platform for digital marketing where buying and selling of Aquacultural products will take place

Sector/Industry Application: Agriculture

Description: A solar-powered smart recirculatory aquaculture system that is simple to install/operate and allows for efficient mass production of fish in a relatively small space while utilizing bio-sensor to monitor and optimize the fish production process. This device is environmentally friendly as effluents are effectively managed. Its a good alternative to land use by other fish farming methods like earthen ponds and concrete tanks. The various activities in fish farming business can be effectively controlled while education and digital marketing will also be deploy by our product in an App. This is aside the major purpose of producing fish in large quantity for our teeming population and creating job for our youth and vulnerable women

Problem: The ever-increasing human population and the pressure on the sea has drastically reduced fish stocks. Hence, Aquaculture farms are more essential. ○The need for portable, solar powered, easy to move systems with tools for environmental monitoring using Biosensors has necessitated the development of new techniques and suitable methodologies with technologies capable of rapid, real-time, and automatic monitoring of aquaculture environment (Smart aquaculture) which must be designed and introduced to fish farmers to eradicate shortage of fish (1.5M tons gap) and pollution through water reuse technology in their fish farming business. This will ensure that more farmers will embrace recirculatory aquaculture
