Innovation: History instruction could be improved with the use of new media that needs to be produced to make learning useless and interesting. Modern equipment such as computers, slides, 3d material and other methods when incorporated in the teaching and learning of history education can be helpful in revolutionalizing the teaching of the subject as well as research in the field of history.

Description: The problem of teaching and learning history education in Nigeria goes back to colonial times where students were taught the history of Europe and European history rather than starting from the local known history to the unknown foreign history. Ours is a case of total relegation of our entire culture as backwards and uninteresting thereby drifting history further away from their reality. The need for Nigerian history students to draw up a curriculum that seeks to study local situations and problems and also find solutions to such problems using Nigerian viewpoint cannot be overemphasized.
