Innovation: We successfully came up with a software called ResearchGains. ResearchGains is an EduTech product focused on Human Research, data documentation, and analytics. Research and data documentation have always been a problem in developing countries like Nigeria and Africa at large. According to the latest UNESCO Science Report 2021, Africa spends only 0.59% of GDP on research and development compared to a world average of 1.79%. Simply put, research output is low. This, coupled with some other factors, initiated the idea of ResearchGains; A solution that will change the description of how research is carried out, analyzed, and ultimately how the data will be stored for future references.

Sector/Industry Application: EduTech

Description: The cost of data gathering and data documentation in Africa is a significant barrier to research in the continent. With low funding in the research sector, it is crucial to develop an affordable data gathering software that can penetrate local areas across African countries while maintaining high-quality assurance. To address this challenge, we decided to build a complete automated online data gathering software for students and organizations to penetrate local areas in Africa. We leveraged programming languages such as Java, Javascript, React JS, and Flutter to create a two-phase software application: the researcher and respondent phase. Researchers can target respondents based on their demographic data and obtain responses from the pool of registered respondents in our database. Surveys are encrypted, and locations are secured, ensuring data privacy and confidentiality. We are pleased to report that the objectives of this project have been met. Researchers can now target respondents right from their homes, eliminating the need to travel about in gathering data. The data gathered is successfully encrypted, and the data analysis page can easily be shared to prevent data tampering. We are confident that our software will curb 90 - 99% data tampering and data fraud. In conclusion, our software application can successfully carry out socio-demographic project research, market research, user-experience research, and polls. This is a significant milestone in research in Africa, as it provides an affordable and efficient way to gather data while maintaining data quality and security. With the increased adoption of digital solutions, we are optimistic that our software application will drive innovation in research and data gathering in Africa.
