Description: THE STUDY EXPLORES EFFICACY OF FINGERPRINTS TECHNOLOGY IN CONTROLLING EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE IN EnuguSTATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY(ESUT). FOUR RESEARCH QUESTIONS AND FOUR HYPOTHESES GUIDED THE STUDY. DESCRIPTIVE SURVEY RESEARCH DESIGN WAS ADOPTED FOR THE STUDY. THE POPULATION FOR THE STUDY WAS 4,434 RESPONDENTS MADE UP OF 837 ACADEMIC STAFF AND 3597 FINAL YEAR STUDENTS IN ESUT IN 2018/2019 SESSION. A TOTAL OF 886 ACADEMIC AND STUDENTS WERE USED WHICH IS 20% OF THE ENTIRE POPULATION. THE STRATIFIED RANDOM SAMPLING TECHNIQUE WAS USED IN COMPOSING THIS RESEARCH SAMPLE. THE INSTRUMENT FOR DATA COLLECTION WAS A RESEARCHER STRUCTURED QUESTIONNAIRE TITLED "Fingerprint Technology in Controlling Examination Malpractice Questionnaire". The instrument was validated by three research experts all from department of Mathematics and Computer Education ESUT. To determine the reliability of the instrument, copies of the instrument were given to 17 academic and 23 final year students in Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. The computation yielded .80, .79, .80, and .78 for sections 1,2,3 and 4 respectively. The instrument has an overall reliability index of .79 which indicates that the instrument is reliable. The 886 copies of the questionnaire were administered on the respondents by the researcher and three research assistants. The researcher had 100% return rate. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test statistic was used to test the hypotheses at 0.5 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that fingerprint is effective in examination malpractice control in terms of impersonation in ESUT. Fingerprint technology is relevant in examination malpractice control in ESUT. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that hands should be on deck towards eradicating the menace of examination malpractices in the university.
